The vast investment plan that the Enel group is carrying out and planning in Sicily was the focus of the meeting that took place today at Palazzo d’Orléans between the president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, and the director of Enel Italia, Nicola Lanzetta.
«From this collaboration – comments the governor – undoubtedly derive great opportunities for growth and development for the island, especially in view of the necessary energy transition process. On our part, therefore, there is the utmost commitment to support, also in terms of simplification, the projects that will affect our area from now to the near future».
Lanzetta illustrated the investments that the Enel Group is making in Sicily. Some of these concern the medium and low voltage electricity grid, and are aimed at making it more resilient and at accommodating and transferring the growing production of electricity from renewable sources.
“Our goal – explains Lanzetta – is to continue to improve the quality and continuity of the electricity service on the island and still invest significantly in production from renewable sources”.
Another significant investment concerns the construction of the new 3Sun Gigafactory in Catania, which will soon become the largest latest generation photovoltaic panel factory in Europe. Furthermore, a project is in the authorization phase for the construction of an experimental center for the production of green hydrogen between Carlentini and Sortino, in the Syracuse area.
Finally, great availability was guaranteed by the Enel Group, as part of the broader program for the electrification of household and business consumption, for the further development of infrastructures useful for electric mobility.
