The ferry was moored in the port of Genoa, many similarities

(ANSA) – PALERMO, JAN 15 – The Superba ship of the Grandi Navi Veloci, where a fire broke out in the hold yesterday evening while it was moored in the port of Palermo, had already been affected by another fire in December 2009 . On that occasion the ferry was in the port of Genoa and 1579 passengers were forced to abandon the ship following the fire that broke out in the engine room.

Also that time the ship was evacuated and the travelers were then transferred to another ferry of the company which sailed the next morning bound for Palermo. The soldiers of the harbor master’s office and the firefighters intervened, who managed to put out the flames without causing any consequences for the people on board. There are many similarities with the fire that broke out yesterday in Palermo on the same ship: the fire broke out while the ferry was still moored, which made the intervention of the firefighters more accessible. If it had happened during the crossing, the operations of rescuing the passengers and putting out the flames would certainly have been more complex. (HANDLE).
