Free adaptation by Mimmo Cuticchio

(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 11 – The Italian Cultural Institute of Athens, in collaboration with the Italian School of Athens, the Parnassos Literary Association and the Laboratory for Art and Word of the National Capodistrian University of Athens, proposes “The Iliad or Priam’s ransom”, a free adaptation for Sicilian puppets by Mimmo Cuticchio, from the Associazione Figli d’Arte Cuticchio of Palermo.

The show, scheduled for January 22nd, is a staging in which the epic merges with the contemporary and sees new puppets created on the figures of the Greeks and Trojans in action, in compliance with those traditional canons that the family d art is handed down from generation to generation.

Similarly, ancient and modern instruments are harmonized in the original soundtrack, created specifically for the show, which accompanies the events represented in a dialectical progression, following the rhythms of improvisation typical of the puppet theatre. (HANDLE).
