Pope Francis has appointed Abbot Ordinary of the Abbey of Monte Cassino Dom (from dominus) Antonio Luca Fallica, prior emeritus of the monastic community ‘Santissima Trinità’ of Dumenza, in the province of Varese. Abbot Donato Ogliari will remain apostolic administrator of Montecassino until the installation of the newly elected.
Dom Antonio Luca Fallica was born on July 27, 1959 in Ripatransone (AP). He lived the first years of his life in Ascoli Piceno and at the end of 1971 he moved to Ancona with his family. In this Church he was trained in Catholic Action, in which he was responsible first of the Student Movement and then of the Youth Sector. After studying law and a brief work experience in the field of cultural cooperation, in 1985 he entered the monastery of Praglia, where he began his theological training, which he then continued at the Milan branch of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy.
In 1989, together with other brothers, he started the monastic community of the Holy Trinity, currently established in Dumenza, in the province of Varese, in the Diocese of Milan. In this community he made his solemn monastic profession on January 5, 1996. After having held the position of cellarer, he was elected Prior of the community on October 29, 2010 and carried out this service for twelve years, until December 2, 2010. 2022.
