MotoGP 2023. Andrea Iannone is less than a year away from returning to the track: in the meantime, he talked about Pecco Bagnaia and “his” Ducati – MotoGP

TOAndrea Iannone gave an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport in which, among other things, he also spoke of Pecco Bagnaia. Referring to the new world champion, Iannone said he spoke to us in the summer, that is, when the number 63 was returning from a series of dull races alternating with victories. The period in which Quartararo seemed launched towards a world encore.

Iannone knows the Ducati reality well, having competed there in four seasons in the MotoGP, two of which in the factory team, up until 2016. Then the two years with Suzuki and the move to Aprilia, with the disqualification for doping that it will end in less than a year, on December 17, 2023.

Noin the interview at Gazzetta dello Sport Iannone said: “In the summer I told Pecco who I was a little surprised by some of his falls. But I also told him there was enough space to recover. I was sure he would come back, I expected this return: it was fast and very good“.

On his journey with Ducati…

“With Ducati we have had great satisfaction and we have traced a virtuous path. That bike was a bullet on the straights, but it had problems on other tracks. From that moment on (i.e. from 2016, ed) a brutal growth began and with very futuristic technology. I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to see what we could have done together.”

Now that the return to the track is closer, 11 months, Iannone will begin to seriously look around to return to racing. At the moment the doors from the MotoGP they seem precluded, even if the Pramac team principal would gladly take him back. Iannone could find an engagement in Superbike, Supersport or in the Civ. We’ll see, it’s almost there now.
