Loano – New appointment with “Loano not only the sea”, the program curated by the Loano section of the Cai with the sponsorship of the councilorship for tourism, culture and sport of the Municipality of Loano. Next 12 January a trip to Villanova d’Albenga is scheduled, an ancient village founded in 1250 to defend Albenga enclosed by robust walls.
Participants will meet at 8.30 in Piazza Valerga in Loano. From here they will move by car towards Albenga along the Via Aurelia. At Albenga, just before the tunnel for Alassio, turn right, pass the hamlets of San Fedele and Lusignano and arrive in Villanova: park your cars at the entrance to the town and begin the itinerary on foot.
Accompanied by the parish priest, an expert in art and music, the participants will first visit the interesting historic center (made up of ancient towers and walls, narrow streets, churches, medieval well) and then the Exhibition on the Resistance and the annexed library, which will be presented by the directorate itself. After the visit, with an hour’s easy walk, you will then go up to the hamlet of Ligo, where (around 1pm) you will have lunch. Ligo can also be reached by car.
After lunch it will still be possible to visit the small church of Ligo, where some cartelami are kept, painted cardboard templates depicting scenes of a sacred nature, dating back to the 1700s and used above all in Liguria, in the Maritime Alps and in Corsica. The return will take place following the same ascent itinerary.
The outing will last 2 hours and will follow a round-trip itinerary, with difficulty T (and difficulty EE for lunch) and a vertical drop of approximately 250 metres. The leaders are: Silvia and Pierangelo from Albenga, Beppe Peretti..
The excursions are free and can be practiced by those who have some training in mountain walking. To participate in the trip, non-CAI members must take out personal accident insurance, to be requested by 12 noon on the day before the activity by calling Flavia Robaldo on 318.104.22.1688 or, if absent, Elena Ghiglione on number 322.214.171.1241 by 12 noon of the day before the trip. Without insurance you cannot participate. Participants must have suitable footwear and clothing suitable for the mountain environment. The capigita will not admit anyone who does not have the due requisites. Packed lunch at the expense of each participant. Participants are required to comply with the anti-Covid provisions in force.
