Rome, 9th January Sunday 15th January “Montecitorio with open doors”. At 10, in Piazza Montecitorio, performance by the band of the State Police, conducted by Maestro Roberto Granata. The program begins with the Italian national anthem and ends with the performance of the European anthem. This was announced by the Chamber of Deputies.
The tour, guided and for groups, winds along a historical-artistic itinerary which includes, among other things: the Hall, designed by the Palermitan architect Ernesto Basile, with the panels of the Sartorio Frieze which decorate the hemicycle illustrating the events epics of the Italian people; the Velario, an imposing Art Nouveau decoration of about 800 square meters in Slavonian oak, colored glass and iron; the Transatlantico, a hall that owes its name to the ceiling lighting, characteristic of transoceanic ships; the Hall of the Wolf; the Queen’s Hall; the Sala Aldo Moro, with the new layout after the restoration of the Wedding at Cana; the Knight’s Hall.
On the occasion of the event, it is possible to visit the exhibition “A testa alta”, which remains open until 2 June: it consists of 22 photographs placed in the representative corridors of Montecitorio, dedicated to Pio La Torre, Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.
