(ANSA) – NEW YORK, JAN 02 – Despite worries about inflation and recession, interest in travel remains very high in 2023 among Americans, and Italy is still the most popular destination after last year’s boom . This was revealed by a survey by the Washington Post, which consulted various operators in the sector, which puts our country at the top of the destinations for US tourists.
The Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily are the most requested Italian destinations but industry operators point out that many travelers are now looking for experiences off the beaten track even in famous places, and are interested in immersing themselves in Italian culture through cooking classes, excursions and craft workshops. Other popular European destinations for this year are Greece, Portugal and the United Kingdom, and interest in Asia has returned (Japan in the lead) after the end of the closures due to Covid.
