Alex Albon he clocked in three times in 2022, bringing the Williams in the points in Australia, Miami and Hungary. The former Red Bull driver has also distinguished himself on other occasions, showing the ability to overperform with the mediocre FW44. Nonetheless, the Thai driver rebuked the team, asking for a car in 2023 that is more balanced overall. For Albon, the Williams’ big flaw is the lack of balance which prevents the car from expressing itself consistently on different types of circuits.

“Our single-seater is particular, it seems to adapt well to some tracks while on others it is almost undriveable – Albon’s words to Autosport – In 2022 we did quite well in qualifying, which allowed us to often fight ahead of where we should have been. Our goal is to fight for the points more regularly. The limitations of the car are clear, overall I think the car has potential, but we need to work on the details leaving no stone unturned. We have a problem with the balance that limits us a lot. It’s not just about finding downforce, it’s about finding the right balance. We need more balance in order to extract the potential in all types of corners and not be fast in some sections and slow in others. We have to start from a solid foundation and then develop, otherwise we don’t improve”.
