Contagions January 2, 2023. There are 180 new cases of Covid-19 registered in the last twenty-four hours in Tuscany: 63 have been confirmed with a molecular swab and the other 117 with a rapid test.

The number of infected people detected in the region since the beginning of the pandemic therefore rises to 1,569,790. New cases are 0.01% higher than the previous day’s total. The healed grow by 0.01% (77 people) and reach 1,483,523 (94.5% of total cases).

The data relating to the progress of the pandemic are those ascertained today on the basis of the requests of the national civil protection.

At the moment, therefore, there are 74,898 positives in Tuscany, +0.1% compared to yesterday. Of these, 436 (4 more than yesterday) are hospitalized: 17 (5 more) are in intensive care.

The list of deaths is updated with 2 new deaths: a man and a woman with an average age of 91.5 years.

Since the last daily bulletin, 184 molecular swabs and 1,008 rapid antigenic swabs have been performed: of these, 15.1% were positive. On the other hand, 237 subjects were tested, excluding the control swabs: 75.9% of these tested positive.

The trend by province

With the latest cases, the positives since the beginning of the emergency in the municipalities of the metropolitan city of Florence rise to 420,706 (26 more than yesterday), 102,599 in the province of Prato (14 more), 122,317 in Pistoia (10 more) , 82,220 in Massa Carrara (8 more), 171,237 in Lucca (12 more), 183,459 in Pisa (23 more), 144,647 in Livorno (17 more), 141,476 in Arezzo (36 more), 112,099 in Siena (23 more) and 87,828 in Grosseto (10 more). To these must be added 569 cases of positivity notified in Tuscany but which concern residents in other regions.

Tuscany has around 42,509 total cases per 100,000 inhabitants since the beginning of the pandemic (between residents and non-residents). At the moment, the notification province with the highest rate is Lucca (with 44,598 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), followed by Livorno (43,966) and Pisa (43,891). The lowest concentration is found in Prato (with a rate of 38,677).

74,462 are in isolation at home, because they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or are symptom-free (97 more than yesterday, plus 0.1%).

The 1,483,523 healed registered to date are in all respects, from a viral point of view, certified with a negative swab.

The deaths

The list of deaths is updated with 2 new deaths: a man and a woman with an average age of 91.5 years.

With regard to the province of residence, the deceased are: 1 in Massa-Carrara, 1 in Livorno.

11,369 have died since the beginning of the epidemic: 3,620 in the metropolitan city of Florence, 922 in the province of Prato, 1,018 in Pistoia, 715 in Massa-Carrara, 1,062 in Lucca, 1,271 in Pisa, 854 in Livorno, 723 in Arezzo, 610 in Siena, 410 in Grosseto. 164 people who died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region must be added.

The crude mortality rate for Covid-19 (number of deceased/resident population) is currently 307.9 per 100,000 residents. As far as the provinces are concerned, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (376.6 for every 100,000 inhabitants), followed by Florence (362.6 x100,000) and Pistoia (350.7 x100,000), while the lowest is in Grosseto (188.2 x100,000).
