It took nine hours and a snowmobile to put out the flames

(ANSA) – VERBANIA, 01 JAN – It took nine hours to put out the fire, clean up the area and secure a house in Alpe Devero (in the Baceno area, in Verbano-Cusio-Ossola) where yesterday in the afternoon, around 5 pm, a fire broke out for reasons to be ascertained. The flames affected the copper sheet roof of a house located near the ski lifts, in which a group of holidaymakers, none of whom was involved in the fire, had decided to spend the last night of the ‘year.

The firefighters of the Domodossola detachment and the volunteers from Baceno and Cannobio intervened on the spot, who worked until 2 in the morning to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to the floor below. An operation also made complicated by the heavy snow along the road: the help of an employee of the ski lift company who, aboard a snowmobile, transported the technical material needed by the rescuers along a stretch of road 300 meters. The house was declared unusable due to extensive damage to the roof and its supporting structure. (HANDLE).
