VITTORIO VENETO – A collection of signatures to ask for the “short week” in the higher institutes of Vittorio Veneto. The petition, launched by a group of parents, proposes the elimination of Saturday from the school calendar. The document can be signed at the pool bar in Vittorio Veneto or on the change.org platform. “Many families and many pupils do not find continuity with the path started in elementary and middle school – he maintains Audrette Laurent, spokesperson for the parents’ group -. The reduction of school transport and space heating would lead to money savings and lower consumption of energy resources for heating, fuel for public and private transport, electricity for lighting. All this could be reinvested to enhance the educational resources available to the school”.
The short week would also guarantee “an extra day to carry out qualitatively valid and meaningful extracurricular activities”. “There would be greater adherence between the school commitment time of the children and the working time of the parents – says Laurent -. This choice would take into account the needs of contemporary society and families”.
