“With great pleasure this morning, at the Naples Central railway station, together with the Governor of Campania Vincenzo De Luca, the President of the Transport Commission, Luca Cascone, the president of the Volturno Autonomous Body (EAV), Umberto de Gregorio, my fellow regional councilors, and numerous mayors and administrators from Caserta, we have inaugurated 5 new energy and environmental saving trains, with a video surveillance system, which from today will serve the ex Alifana Naples – Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Piedimonte Matese railway section.

Even today we have demonstrated the centrality of the Province of Caserta in the planning of regional investments carried out by this administration by De Luca “declares the president of the VII Standing Commission for the Environment, Energy and Civil Protection of the Campania Regional Council, John Zanninipresent at the inauguration ceremony of the 5 new trains which have been put into operation on former Alifana line which, starting from the Garibaldi station in Naples, arrives in Caserta and then passing through Santa Maria Capua Vetere up to the terminus Piedimonte Matese, stopping at the stations of Anfiteatro, Sant’Angelo in Formis, Barignano-Pontelatone, Piana di Monte Verna, Caiazzo, Villa Hydrangea, Alvignano, San Marco, Dragoni and Alife.

The governor of Campania statements Vincent DeLuca reported by Bend Campania: “Today the first two new trains of the five latest generation Stadler trains depart on the Naples-Piedimonte Matese line. It’s a hybrid train, diesel but also electricwe will have an energy saving of 30% compared to the previous ones.

We also have video surveillance on board to deal with the impressive increase we have had in recent years of petty crime. Two trains enter service today, three more arrive by Christmas, it is a supply as part of a program to purchase 100 new trains, with which we will eventually reach almost one billion in investment.

We are doing a gigantic job, we are well aware that there are critical issues on the lines, in particular on the Vesuvian we have problems renewing the control systems that have not had maintenance for decades; a little patience but we are completing a gigantic program of investments in public transport”.
