(ANSA) – MONTESILVANO MARINA, 04 NOV – Three hundred students took part, on the occasion of the Day of National Unity and the Armed Forces, in the Heroes’ Village set up with the representatives of the Security Corps and with the voluntary rescue associations that, lined up on the square in front of the Pala Dean Martin in Montesilvano, they showed their work and told it to the children and the citizens. Vehicles and departments of all types took part in the initiative, from bomb squads to dog units, from fire engines to the Lamborghini of the State Police and much more. The mayor, Ottavio De Martinis, placed the crown on the war memorial in the presence of the prefect Giancarlo Di Vincenzo and the commissioner Luigi Liguori.
“I like to point out how much the ‘Village of Heroes’ of Montesilvano, which for some years has been set up in front of the Pala Dean Martin on the occasion of the National Day of November 4th – says the mayor – has become a beautiful custom for our city that allows ‘meeting, friendly and informal, between citizens and those who work every day, often in a risky way and with contempt of danger, for their safety and well-being. A way of celebrating November 4th that a few years ago seemed the best way to celebrate the armed, public security and relief forces to which this anniversary is dedicated “.
“Already from the first year – he adds – we involved in a particular way the students of the city schools and neighboring municipalities. This is because I think that allowing the citizens of tomorrow to get to know better and immediately familiarize themselves with those who wear a uniform, is the best way to introduce young people in the national community they will be part of as adults “.
