The right foot of the mechanic hit on the morning of Saturday 3 July 2021 in Modena was amputated by an F1 Ferrari, during an exhibition at the Motor Valley Fest. The 45-year-old man was admitted to orthopedics at the civil hospital in Baggiovara, with a prognosis of 40 days.

According to an initial reconstruction, the mechanic was on the track during some demonstration laps, to facilitate a maneuver of the SF70H, the last single-seater of the Prancing Horse. The same car that strongly hit the man’s leg at the moment of the restart, causing him injuries that forced the doctors to amputate his limb. Ferrari mechanics rushed to the scene of the accident, near the parking lot of the Pala Molza in Modena, a few moments before an exhibition. The car was doing some test laps together with its ‘twin’ F60, before making a show and a pit stop in front of the audience in the stands.

The incident led to the interruption of the program of the event for a few hours. On the morning of Saturday 3 July 2021 at the circuit built on the occasion of the Motor Valley Fest, the racing cars of the Prancing Horse were protagonists. Eight 488 Challenge Evo, regular protagonists of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, who faced the 1400 meters of track competing in a ‘1 against 1’ elimination. Numerous car shows were also scheduled during the day. The Formula 1 single-seaters in the Scuderia Ferrari colors, including the F60 and SF70H, entered the track around 1pm to perform some “adrenaline” laps before the spectacular pit-stop phase. That’s when the accident happened.
