The Municipality of Settimo, in collaboration with the Archimedes library, analyzed the effects of the pandemic on the city’s students with an anonymous questionnaire distributed to children, families and teachers. 723 people involved, including 323 middle school pupils, 270 parents and 130 teachers.
The project was supervised by the psychologist Pasquale La Colla. One of the major elements of suffering was caused by the inability to see one’s friends (66%) and to carry out sports and recreational activities (62%). 30% reported that parents had problems at work and 10% reported an increase in family quarrels. One in four students experienced a decline in their motivation to study.
“The only way to draw positive elements from crisis situations is to face them methodically to be prepared in case they arise again – says the commissioner at the school Alexandra Girard – let’s start from here to try, in collaboration with the institutes, to imagine a better school“.
THE COUNCILOR Alessandra Girard.
The pandemic has also increased the use of electronic devices with not entirely negative consequences: 49% of students would prefer to alternate face-to-face and online lessons and 90% would have no problem using IT tools if they returned to Dad.CopyAMP code
