S.have been filed in China by Piaggio Zongshen Foshan Motorcycle patent drawings of a new twin-cylinder engine dedicated to road models.
Currently the joint venture between the Italian group and the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer produces the Aprilia GPR250Ras well as other models with the Aprilia, Piaggio and Vespa brands, destined for the local market and other South Asian countries such as Malaysia or India.
But it is specifically a four-stroke single cylinder with power contained in 26 horses and which so far has not arrived in Europe.
THEThe new engine instead aims higher. The patent filed concerns his design, it is a two cylinders in line with central distribution control – therefore relatively sophisticated in terms of performance – with double camshaft and four valves per cylinder.
Realistically it could provide a power close to i 35 horses (remember that the Yamaha R3 delivers 42 with its 321 cc) making it an interesting sports model with respect to the demand for such models in China.
T.However, a sizing generous with the crankcase and, precisely because it is a new project, we will not be surprised to see it created according to a higher displacement, let’s say for example 400to also cover a range of higher displacement which also enjoys a significant space in those parts.
