From the collection of old iron in a manure heap to the birth of Caneva Consulting, a company that operates in the recycling of waste products and the revaluation of raw materials. From punches in the face in the ring to epic legal battles against bureaucracy, tax and tax audits of all kinds that can only be won with study and a degree. All of this while maintaining the compass of values: hard work to grow and improve the society in which we live. In summary, these are the themes covered by Glauco Caneva, a 46-year-old from Vicenza, in his first publication, “La Teoria di Glauco”, a 170-page text that moves on two levels of narration. It begins with the story of the entrepreneurial life of Glauco, from Vicenza to the core, which evokes a careful and aggressive, often painful approach to work: he almost seems like a new Vitaliano Trevisan grappling with his “Works”. A battle made up of discoveries and failures, of attempts and beatings that lead him to the bottom of the social ladder after his father’s entrepreneurial dream is shipwrecked due to taxes and betrayals. From here, however, Glauco gets up, literally digging with his hands in the manure, starting to collect old iron to survive and feed his young son, raised and educated with his own strength. Gradually he learns the rules of business and bureaucracy, managing to distill a secular mission in his work: he becomes a raw material broker. A job that allows him to enhance raw materials, buy and resell them to make money, sure.. but at the same time to give new life to waste that would otherwise pollute the environment. The second part of the book is grafted onto these autobiographical foundations, becoming almost a small essay, a handbook for entrepreneurs forced to deal with the Italian state, but also with Europe and with all the bureaucratic and legal obstacles that prevent the entrepreneur to do what he does best: produce wealth for himself and for the ecosystem that surrounds him. There are quotations, regulatory references and a profound bibliography and support for the theses expressed in the book, a sort of cry of anger against those who clip the wings of entrepreneurial initiatives, which however ends with hope. The birth of Caneva Consulting, which today has its headquarters in a building in the living room of Corso Palladio in the center of Vicenza, and of the various personnel training academies, models for sharing information and good practices that leave a ray of hope for the Venetian Entrepreneurship. “I would like this book to show the evolution of the person in everyday reality: just like, to learn to drive a car, after the theory, you do the practice”, comments the author during the days of the book presentation. “It’s a book dedicated to all those who have felt like me: for the entrepreneur who wants social redemption, for those who have lived through difficult situations, poverty, violence, loneliness, lack of affection. This book is for those who have been able to regenerate their strength into wealth; and now, having created wealth, he perhaps realizes that he has neglected the family. But, through the telling of my story, I have shown that it is possible to redeem oneself even within the family”.
