Presentation of the book by Father Tonino Maria Nisi
The sac. Don Eugenio Fischetti will present in the Maria SS.ma del Carmine Parish in Massafra on 29 January 2023, at 18:30, the volume “EGIDIO DA TARANTO SANTO IN ACTION”, enriched by the contributions of Monsignor Filippo Santoro, former metropolitan archbishop of Taranto and by Giuseppe De Tomaso, of La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, is published by AGA Arti Grafiche Alberobello. He will be attended by the author of the book FATHER TONINO MARIA NISI (OFM), an expert scholar of the life of the Saint.
It is no coincidence that Father Tonino’s choice concerned the Carmine Parish, entrusted to the ministry of the priest. Don Eugenio Fischetti, given that he himself desired and wanted to spread the devotion to Santo Egidio in the city of Massafra who in the years of his youth, from 1747 to 1752, lived in Massafra in via Laterra n. 22. In the same years he was a plush weaver in via Cavour n. 8, where currently, on Don Eugenio’s initiative, an icon has been affixed as an unshakable memory of him.
For the inhabitants of Massafra, the conviction must mature that a return to the figure and example of St. Egidio can be a stimulus for everyone to live the Christian life well.
“And above all we must learn to live the wonderful lesson with more serenity (says don Eugenio) that comes to us from this evangelical and humble man who was a trail of industrious exemplarity and luminous virtues. Santo Egidio protect our city – and beyond – from the serious economic crisis we are experiencing and always make us hear his incessant invitation: Love God, love God!”
We remind you that the book has already been successfully presented in Taranto on 4 November 2022 in the parish hall of Christ the King, in the presence of the archbishop of Taranto, mons. Filippo Santoro who edited a wise and enlightening preface. Also present were Filippo Maria Boscia, national president of the Italian Catholic doctors association, and the writer and essayist Vinicio Aquaro, all moderated by the parish priest of Christ the King, Father Paolo Lomartire..
