(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 23 – Saint Laurent Rive Droite participates in Art Basel Miami Beach (11/29-12/4) with an exhibition designed and curated by Madonna and the creative director of the maison, Anthony Vaccarello, which celebrates reissue of the pop star’s book, “Sex”, republished by Callaway. The first edition was dated 1992. Saint Laurent Rive Droite will present the images taken from the book in large format during the contemporary art fair. The once shocking photographs, taken by Steven Maisel, will be displayed in a temporary box built on the beach for the occasion.
Upon its release, Madonna’s provocative book shocked public opinion around the world, with its audacious erotic content and free visions of sexual self-expression. Imagined by the most provocative pop star of all time, Sex contained unforgettable images by Meisel and lyrics written by Madonna herself. After 30 years, Sex remains a work of culture and style that paved the way for freedom of expression for many artists.
To celebrate the volume, Madonna and Anthony Vaccarello have decided to accompany its re-edition, reviving Sex on the walls of an ephemeral gallery. Large format prints from the book will be shown in Miami for the first time. The reissue of Saint Laurent is published by Callaway in an edition of 800 copies, created exclusively for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. A limited number of copies will be signed by Madonna, and the proceeds will benefit Raising Malawi, which supports orphans and needy children in the African state, through an auction to be held in the coming months. T-shirts and bags will also be on sale at the fair.
Saint Laurent Rive Droite is a creative and cultural project curated by Anthony Vaccarello, presenting a wide range of products and projects, including exclusive pieces, limited editions, books, vintage, music, photography combined with art, shows, exhibitions, cultural events and exchanges.
